Warrick
County Profile
First organized in 1813 and named after the Battle of Tippecanoe hero Jacob Warrick, Warrick County originally encompassed all of present-day Posey, Vanderburgh, Spencer and Perry Counties, as well as a portion of Crawford County. Though the county’s borders have changed, there are approximately 55,000 residents who now call Warrick County home.
The county seat, located in Boonville, Indiana (pop. ~6,830), has the distinction of being known as “Where Lincoln Learned the Law.” Warrick County is governed by a three-member Board of Commissioners, as well as a seven-member County Council. Warrick County comprises part of the Evansville MSA, a bustling area home to a quarter million people. Evansville serves as the commercial and financial hub of the tri-state region (Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky), and Warrick residents frequently take advantage of the city’s many amenities.
